Imagery/Symbolism in The Tell-Tale Heart

Picture
The old man’s pale blue eye is the focus of The Tell-Tale Heart. Without the fright of the old man’s pale eye, there would be no story. The pale blue eye shows imagery throughout the story. The old man’s eye is described to have a “veil” over it. It is medically proven that this could mean the old man has problems with his internal sight, or the way the old man could perceive his surroundings. Just as the man’s vision was distorted, obscured, and foggy, the narrator is also not clear about what he is hearing or why he is feeling nervous throughout the story.
